Ruth has close to 25 years experience in the field of long-term care and has been Executive Director of the Alliance since May 2002. Prior to this, she was Director of Assisted Living with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) in Washington, DC. Previous to going to DC, Ruth spent thirteen years with the state unit on aging in Alaska planning, developing and implementing home and community-based services (HCBS) for the elderly. Ruth has a Master of Health Administration and Certificate in the Study of Aging from the University of Washington, Seattle as well as a Retirement Housing Professional Certification and Assisted Living Manager Certificate.

Margaret Cervenka, Director of Education & Information Services

Margaret joined the Alliance team in March 1988 and has been involved in the development and coordination of many association programs during her tenure. As Director of Education, she plans, coordinates and directs training, educational workshops and conferences for Alliance members. In addition, she oversees production of the semi-monthly News in Brief and web site content. Margaret has a Bachelor’s Degree in Editorial Journalism from the University of Washington.

Karen Greeney, Manager of Membership Services and Resident Programs

Karen joined the Alliance in 2006 as Administrative Manager and was promoted to Manager of Membership Services and Resident Programs in July 2007. As Manager of Membership Services, she coordinates activities related to the Association’s Group Purchasing Program and the Employee Benefits Program. In addition, Karen manages Business Associate member relations, oversees recruitment/retention strategies and plans and executes our conference sponsorships and trade shows. As Manager of Resident Services, Karen coordinates the three Alliance Resident Programs; the Ageless Art Contest and Calendar, the Creative Writing Festival and production of our annual publication, Reflections, and the Volunteer Recognition Program.

Denise joined the Alliance in 2007 bringing her diverse business background to her role in administration. Her responsibilities include working with the Director of Education on site details related to educational training, workshops and conferences, as well as, accounting and special projects.
